Our Mavic 2 Pro is on its last legs after 3 trips over the Iceland volcanos, but at least it is not afraid of heights. Some of this was shot off Brian Head Peak, which is over 11,000 feet above sea level.

    Awesome footage as always! BTW, I saw tonight a warning from Dr Skow about some massive solar flare the 4th and 6th and she specifically stated drone GPS. She said you don't want to lose your drones out there!

    Went through here on my way from Denver back to Phoenix to visit my dad I drove a Pontiac sunbird convertible I didn't even never even heard of Miami Vice until after I sold it but man I should have had a white jacket... Sports blazer technically also yeah nice place super chill I was going to Apache junction which is grander but they should be like next to each other for sure I got my own little window Rock for overlooking full moon rising over the superstitions

      These are collapsed lava tubes, where weaker lava is washed away, and then the earth caves in at particularly weak points, creating the opening. The nearby Khorgo volcano is about 8,000 years ago, so these areas are probably even older.

      This was a replica of Ghenghis Khan's original castle, so it was pretty well guarded. Note too that there are at least three distinct places of worship inside, Ghenghis Khan benefitted from allowing different religions to coexist within the walls of his compound.

    What drone was it and did you fit any heat protection measures on it or was it just out of the box? Also wondering how many hours over the 5 days did you sit up there to capture all this and how many batteries did you need to have charged up!

      Hello, I was flying a Mavic 2, with no heat protection, which is probably why the bottom of the drone looks pretty melted. I travel with 7 batteries that I charge every night.

    Enjoyed watching this thank you! I sadly missed the eruption but flew my drone over the crater in December. Gutted to have missed the main event but still great to be there and experience the scene to put in context your amazing footage! You got pretty close to the crater at minute 36 how do you judge how close before the drone melted? What drone was it? Cheers

      I was flying a Mavic 2, and probably got 15 m from the actual lava. I only stayed there a short while before retreating back over cooled lava. Sorry you missed the eruption, but I keep hoping that it will come back.

      Yes, it filled the entire valley and then spilled over into the next valley in three separate "rivers", but it didn't fill up that valley before the eruption stopped, so Iceland 1, the Rim Road, was saved.

      It is actually pumice. The hot lava is spewed up in the air and cools, then falls to earth.

      Ha ha, yes. If you look at some of my drone footage from May of the same year, this was a valley and the "spillover" after that wiped out the hiking trail we used then.

      I wish, but it stopped some time in September of 2021. There is magma movement in several areas of Iceland right now, so perhaps there will be another eruption.

    If im not mistaken Iceland is one of the few If not only place on Earth where the two continents of North America and Europe meet on land and where one can cross between the two continents by land. That’s if im not mistaken correct me if im wrong.

      You are absolutely correct! This pictures shows the North American plate (left) pulling away from the Eurasian plate (right) at about 3 cm / year. There is also a "Bridge over the Continents" where you can "walk from Asia to North America".
